Known as a hardy breed of cattle, these cows survive in very cold areas such as Europe and Canada. They require little in the way of shelter or feed to maintain good condition and live in areas where other breeds of cattle would perish. They are even-tempered and can be halter-trained due to their intelligence.
Food
They can both graze and browse and often eat plants other cattle would avoid and which allows them to flourish in harsh conditions.
Life Cycle
They can live up to 20 years but are often raised as a food source.
Population & Treats
Most of the population is raised on farmlands for food.
Range
Native to the Scottish Highlands, but breeds are found in Europe, Canada and the U.S.
