Red foxes mate from January through March, with the female taking care of the den after mating. The gestation period is less than two months and can produce anywhere between one and 10 kits. The kits eat regurgitated food from their mother early on, and eventually she brings them live prey to play with and eat.
Main threats are larger mammals like wolves, coyotes, jackals and larger felines.
The red fox can be found in most of the United States and parts of Europe and Asia and has been introduced in Australia.
